A seasoned wood worker began the hobby of electrocuting patterns into wood with a high voltage transformer, also known as fractal burning. He was able to create truly anomalous designs with the technique and began sharing pictures and videos of his work on social media. He was fond of using local Asbury Park bands as the background music for his video. One of the bands asked him if he could electrocute a dugout- he looked into purchasing dugouts, but decided he could make them himself and in December of 2019, Shocked Boxes were born.
Using a combination of reclaimed lumber and locally felled trees, shocked boxes are constructed with sustainable materials. We do carry some exotic wood products, but these are also scraps and leftovers from NJ lumber mills.
